Register for the conference here

For those attending in person and need a hotel, we recommend getting a hotel downtown using your favorite internet travel site to find the best rate. People can usually find better prices than the negotiated conference rate, anyway. We will have a shuttle that will run back and forth from the conference site to downtown. More information is upcoming about pickup locations. In the meantime, if you will use the shuttle service, please send you hotel location to dechapman@georgiasouthern.edu so we know where you are. Thank you.

Pat Gunn and Julia Pearce on Wednesday Night's Opening Reception
At the opening reception we will watch a short student film about the Wade-ins that took place on Tybee Island. These important demonstrations were integral to integrating the beaches. Gunn and Pearce are long time activists in Savannah and they will discuss their triumphs and tribulations of working for justice in Georgia.

Highlights this year include The Funky Academic and authors from the Deep Center

I first came across Irami Osei-Frimpong (The Funky Academic) on the podcast Breaking Points. He is a fascinating thinker who is fiercely independent. Then, I learned he is at UGA so I invited him to speak at our conference. He will join us via Zoom. You can learn more about him at https://www.funkyacademic.com/

The Deep Center is a Savannah-based writing initiative that uses an anti-racist, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive framework. Their mission is to empower young people to thrive as learners, community leaders, and to become agents of change. You can learn more about them at https://www.deepcenter.org/

WHAT IS THE CSSC CONFERENCE?

Promoting Dialogue and Cooperative Action

Welcome to our ninth annual Curriculum Studies Summer Collaborative. Each year, the CSSC brings together diverse individuals within and beyond the field of Curriculum Studies. The Collaborative was developed to promote dialogue and cooperative action among established and emerging curriculum scholars, including graduate students. It is a process-oriented, generative, collaborative space intended to support the ongoing work of the field and inspire innovative curriculum work.

Mission Statement:
The Curriculum Studies Collaborative Journal (CSCJ) is an outgrowth of the Curriculum Studies Summer Collaborative. The CSCJ encourages dialogue and cooperative theorizing by promoting interdisciplinary scholarship that responds creatively to the theoretical and social moment in which we are situated. We embrace ideas that provoke, instigate and challenge orthodoxies inside and outside of the field.
